Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United American. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, it was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company shortly after. Corcoran was one of ABC's first Shark investors has been part of every episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals as of February 2020. Her biggest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children in a Catholic Irish working class family. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran's childhood. Sometimes, the family relied on deliveries of food for free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran still remembers her father as someone who would drink often and was rude to her mother. Corcoran was a troubled pupil throughout her schooling. She later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was educated in a Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
